Chinderah Bay Dr is another Old Highway One stretch, hugging the banks of the Tweed River, bypassed in the 1990s by a new motorway section of the Pacific Highway. A small remnant of the original old highway bridge remains at the north end of Chinderah Bay Dr, just west of
the modern bridge. The road is lined with the usual Highway One businesses, many now closed or much scaled down.
There's a great fish and chip shop too!

The old National Route 1 (NR1) sign where Tweed Valley Way (the old Pacific Highway loop through Murwillumbah) meets motorway Highway One just south of Chinderah. The old NR1 signs were all replaced
by alphanumeric ones (M1 or A1) in mid-2013.
